Product Story
The goal was straightforward. Build a 15m radius ski that we can take to the groomers on an average day with friends, carve hard, trick around on, laugh and have a good time. No bottomless pow, no 80-foot booters, no racing gates. Make the most of average conditions at your local resort because piste skiing can be way fun with the right tools. 100mm under foot, featuring a straight-tapered, edgeless butterzone in the tip and a rockered Springboard Tail for endless wheelies and extra pop, the all new Stranger merges carving with freestyle and freeride attributes.

Yeah they're fun on the groomers, but don't be afraid of the soft stuff on these either. They float incredibly well for a 100 under foot, they'll mach through spring slush and chopped up pow with surprising composure. Thank you Armada for building a ski with wood! I would have normally bought a 180, but ended up with the 172 because that was all that was available at the time. I'm 160lbs, 5'11". No issues for me going with the shorter length... In fact, I think if I did it again, I'd still go 172.
Date published: 2022-04-05

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skier Jon from This ski is just so much fun Hands down one of the most fun skis I’ve ever ridden. It has the quick turning, edge-to-edge performance you expect from a World Cup slalom ski, with the playfulness of what you’d expect from an Armada park ski. This ski can literally be cranking carves down to the ground one second, and the next smearing butters the way you would on a warm pile of flapjacks. Also a great all around ski with the wide shovel providing enough float when there is some fresh pow. I love this ski. Also, I mounted 2cm above recommended, and it still turns fantastic, but is more familiar to me compared to my other setups.
Date published: 2022-02-07

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jules from These Things Go! These things go. When I think about Armada’s goal to innovate and the tagline “create at all costs,” this is the product I think of. They’re the perfect do-anything resort ski and have never let me down. I researched skis for months before I picked these up, and they’re exactly what I was looking for. They’ve been good for park laps, knee-deep tree runs, storm skiing – you name it. They’re a magic tool in the quiver. Sometimes I nearly giggle putting them on edge on wide open groomers. The 15m radius is so good. The tips are a bit chattery at speed, but I expected that trade-off since they're made soft for nose butters. They make me feel like a better skier than I am. Far and away, the best/most fun ski I’ve owned.
Date published: 2022-02-28

Rated 5 out of 5 by zachB from Maybe most fun ski I've ever owned 71" 185# 172cm Was looking for something to supplement my old alpha-x. These feel just as playful, but are able to actually hold an edge. Incredibly happy with this purchase- these skis definitely have a top speed, which is due to softness of tip and tail and that I got a shorter length. These are great to play around on while skiing with the gf who is an intermediate. Surprised how well I can carve on a ski thats 100mm underfoot. Thanks Armada!
Date published: 2020-11-30

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anton from Greatest Ski I've ever had. From riding twintips center mounted all my life I've never really felt comfortable with my world rebels piste skis and my wide powder skis are not really fun in the slope. As I don't just hangout in the park every time these are perfect for anything. These are perfect to butter on aswell! They are wide enough for deep powder and the radius is short so they are perfect for piste. I often choose these skis to just ski in the piste aswell as my racing skis is only fun to ski on hard snow/ice/manchester snow. 6/5 for me! If I would improve anything I would make them in another colour as the white gets scratches and marks on them fairly quick. I would also want the tail to be a bit more rounded because now it looks bit weird. But maybe it is that I'm used to twintip skis.
Date published: 2022-02-17

Rated 5 out of 5 by TinTin97 from Strange but wonderful Bought this as my first pair of skis after renting for a long time. I'm not the most experienced skier nor the most adventurous in the park. But these skis really tick all the boxes for me, amazing on corduroy groomers, nimble enough for some steep bumps, wide enough for some fresh snow and the perfect flex for some easy freestyle skiing. I'd say they're perfect for what they were designed for, having fun all around the mountain, never a dull moment on these. Was on a pair of JJ 116's last season and loved them. This season I wanted to have something a little better for resort skiing and decided on the Strangers. First day on these made a huge difference with turning and stability. Resort was Deer Valley, conditions: groomed (is there a different condition at Deer Valley?). I skied from 8:45 to 4:15 and had a blast the entire day. I'm sure zachB's top speed is more than mine but these felt really planted at 40mph but breaking 50 was a bit much (but that is probably my skill level). Turn initiation seems to be really great (much quicker than the 116 JJ's but that's expected). As mentioned above I'm a novice but these really do ski well. I'm excited to get better at skiing with these and maybe use some of that spring board tail soon! Even had a few lifties compliment them! Nice job on these Armada! I'm not sure how to put the fit on these with the review options. For me personally, style and skill level I think the 172 is great and don't expect to go to a 180 ever. Maybe that helps someone.
Date published: 2020-12-08

Rated 5 out of 5 by alexmmcb from Get these if you can! I got them looking for a normal resort day kind of ski to have in my quiver and these ended up being an every day any conditions kind of ski! Loving how they carve in groomers and how fun and playful they are as soon as you tuck under the rope, can’t get tired of riding them! Mounted them at +2cm from recommended factory point to add some extra playfulness. If you ever get the chance of trying them go for it!
