“It’s mostly built on contrasts and conflicts- Phil and I have a lot of both, not with each other but just in general. It’s a bit more moody and less literal than previous our film. Phil has a strong personality- how do we convey that through mixing his skiing, happenings, behavior and beyond. It was kind of making a story about connecting those moods and processes that Phil takes to become the great that he is. So I made sure that people know that he’s spiritual and at the same time he’s hostile, and at the same time he’s goofy and all that. It is not supposed to be a blockbuster, it is supposed to be Phil Casabon. The under-looked icon of trick-skiing, for me."
This has a bunch of healing in it, a bunch of Phil’s craft, his power and all that. It’s about longevity and putting a nice stamp down for Phil to look back on, for me to look back on and hopefully for Phil’s fans to really look back on and resonate and have some re-watchability.
