SKI TOURING BINDINGS

SKI TOURING BINDINGS

Following several reports from retailers and internal investigations, we have detected a flaw in one of the production batches of our Armada Tracer pin bindings toe piece. This has led us to proceed with a product recall of these products.

This recall applies to the following products:

Reference Model name Color
RD0000040+ N TRACER TOUR Black
RD0000084+ N TRACER SUMMIT 9 BR Black

Only products manufactured between May 1st 2022 and March 31st 2023 are concerned. Here is the procedure to follow depending on your situation:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?

If upon checking your binding falls in one the categories above, please bring your skis back to the shop where you bought them or if not possible, any Armada retailer using the store locator.

The shop pro will check the serial number and if necessary, will replace the toe pieces at no charge.

Reminder: Under no circumstances should you handle or dismount the bindings by yourself.

Q&A

Q&A

What is the reason for this recall?

On the concerned batch, we have detected a deviation in the manufacturing process of the spring guiding axis. This triggered a weakness on some random units within this batch. Under certain circumstances, this axis may break.

Binding Flaw

Is there a safety risk for the user?

No accidents have been reported. The breakage cases we have received all happened in uphill mode or during the locking action.

How can I know whether my bindings are concerned or not?

The easiest way to know is to answer this questionnaire. It will tell you if you need to bring your bindings back to the retailer for inspection or not.

What if I am not sure about the answers to the questionnaire?

In case of any doubt, we recommend you stop using your bindings and call our Consumer Service at +448000489003, or bring your pair of skis and bindings to a specialized retailer.

I have already used my bindings and I am very happy with them, but your questionnaire tells me to have them checked in a shop. Do I really have to do it?

We are glad that you like our bindings, however your safety is our primary concern. So yes, please have them checked by a shop pro. They will tell you what to do with them.

I must have my bindings checked by a shop pro, but I cannot find my proof of purchase anymore. What should I do?

Proof of purchase is not necessary in this case. Please bring your skis & bindings back to the shop where you bought them or if not possible, any Armada retailer using the store locator. In case of any problems, you may call our Consumer Service at +448000489003.

What is going to happen when I take my skis & bindings back to the shop?

The shop pro will check the serial number of your bindings. For this they need to dismount one of the toe pieces from the ski. Then, there are 2 possibilities:

  • Your bindings are not part of the concerned batch > the shop pro will mount the toe piece back on, following the technical instructions we provided.
  • Your bindings are part of the concerned batch > the shop pro will dismount the second toe piece, and replace both toe pieces with some new ones at no charge.
Can I unscrew my bindings myself, and send them directly to you?

We are sorry but, for safety reasons, any handling of ski bindings must be performed by a professional. That is why we kindly ask you to visit your Armada retailer.

What has Armada done to avoid this technical issue in the future?

We have changed the manufacturing process of the part responsible for this issue (spring guiding axis), to make it more robust with less chances of deviation. We have also reinforced our random quality checks during and after production.

I was about to purchase one of these references when I learned about this recall. How can I know the product I am buying is functional?

Armada is currently putting a lot of efforts into making sure the identification and recall of products in our retailers’ stocks is done in an efficient way. We have already informed all our retailers and partners about the recall, with a precise list of references to exclude.

If you want to make absolutely sure the product you are buying is not concerned, you may check the production date on the box:

Date Box correct

Concerned products = production dates between 22-121 (121st day of 2022) and 23-090 (90th day of 2023). If the code on your box is outside of these dates, you can trust that your product is not concerned.

In the example above, the product is functional (207th day of 2023).
